About Bellomy Industries & Mechanical Services
Our story began in 1980, when founder Randy Bellomy felt a calling to take a leap of faith. While working late on a government project, pulling wire and praying about his future, Randy was inspired by God to start his own business — and Bellomy Heating and Air was born. With just $200, an old truck, and a whole lot of determination, he launched the company from his own home, offering both residential, commercial, and industrial HVAC-R services under a simple motto: "If it heats or cools, we’ll work on it."
In 1989, Bellomy Heating and Air expanded by acquiring the customer list and phone numbers from Lane Heating and Air Conditioning, marking our first big growth step. At the time, the company was still being run out of Randy’s home — we didn’t have a formal office until the early ’90s, when the business moved to Cedar Hill, giving us our first dedicated workspace and room to grow. Then, in 1994, a new chapter began when Randy partnered with Donny McDowell to merge their companies, creating Bellomy McDowell. With the merger came not only a new name, but also an expansion of our services — we began taking on refrigeration work, adding new skills and capabilities that would become an important part of our future.
By 2003, Donny stepped into retirement, and the company returned to its original name: Bellomy Heating and Air. But the biggest transformation came in 2018, when Randy’s son, Grant Bellomy, purchased the business and officially took the reins. From early on, Grant had his eyes on the company’s future. Growing up in business, he inherited the entrepreneurial spirit and was dreaming big even as a kid — talking about running the company one day and imagining the techs driving semis. That early passion and drive to lead played a key role in shaping the next generation of the business, ultimately leading to the rebranding as B.I.M.S. — Bellomy Industries & Mechanical Services to better reflect its expanded capabilities and growing focus on industrial and commercial work.
