Often referred to as “hot gas bypass,” these systems modulate cooling based on internal pressure readings—leveraging principles like Gay-Lussac’s Law, which links pressure and temperature. When system pressure drops too low, capacity control valves redirect warm discharge gas into the suction line, bypassing the compressor to prevent overcooling, minimize mechanical strain, and improve overall efficiency.
One of the most effective capacity control solutions is the Rawal valve, which can extend compressor run time, enhance dehumidification, and deliver energy savings of up to 12%.
