Electronic Air Cleaners
Electronic air cleaners are high-efficiency air purification systems designed to remove fine airborne particles using electrostatic technology. As air flows through the unit, particulates become electrically charged and are drawn to oppositely charged collection plates or media, effectively trapping dust, smoke, pollen, bacteria, and other contaminants.
These systems are ideal for commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, schools, and industrial environments where maintaining high indoor air quality is critical for occupant health, equipment protection, and code compliance.
Electronic air cleaners can reach MERV ratings up to 16, making them suitable for facilities requiring high filtration performance without significantly restricting airflow. When properly maintained, they can capture particles as small as 0.01 microns—including some viruses and ultrafine particulate matter.
While some models may generate trace amounts of ozone as a byproduct, commercial-grade units are engineered to operate within FDA and OSHA safety limits (typically between 0.003 to 0.01 ppm, far below the 0.05 ppm indoor exposure threshold). If additional mitigation is desired, carbon filters or gas-phase filtration modules can be integrated to absorb ozone or VOCs.
