The Challenge
Humanetics depends on a reliable process chiller to maintain critical cooling for its manufacturing operations. When the process chiller began losing cooling capacity, the facility faced the risk of production interruptions, equipment overheating, reduced manufacturing efficiency, and costly downtime.
Because process chillers are essential to maintaining proper operating temperatures for manufacturing equipment, Humanetics needed an industrial HVAC contractor with extensive experience in refrigeration systems, process cooling equipment, and commercial chillers to quickly diagnose the problem and restore the system.
B.I.M.S. was selected to troubleshoot the process chiller, identify the root cause of the failure, and provide a permanent repair solution.
Comprehensive Process Chiller Diagnosis
Rather than replacing parts based on assumptions, B.I.M.S. performed a complete diagnostic evaluation of the refrigeration system.
Our technicians inspected the process chiller, refrigeration circuit, condenser coil, compressor operation, refrigerant pressures, electrical controls, safety devices, and overall system performance to determine why the equipment was no longer providing the cooling capacity required by the facility.
After a thorough inspection, B.I.M.S. identified a refrigerant leak in the condenser coil. The leak was reducing system efficiency, lowering cooling capacity, and preventing the process chiller from operating at its designed performance.
Our findings and repair recommendations were presented to Humanetics along with a detailed quotation for the necessary repairs.
The B.I.M.S. Solution
Once the repair proposal was approved, B.I.M.S. immediately ordered the replacement components and coordinated the repair to minimize downtime for the customer's manufacturing operation.
After the new condenser coil arrived, our technicians completed the repair by:
- Replacing the failed condenser coil
- Repairing the refrigeration circuit
- Pressure testing the system
- Evacuating the refrigeration system to remove moisture and non-condensable gases
- Charging the chiller with the correct refrigerant
- Verifying proper refrigerant charge
- Testing operating pressures and temperatures
- Confirming proper cooling performance
- Commissioning the process chiller for reliable operation
Every repair was completed using industry best practices to ensure long-term reliability and dependable cooling performance.
Results
Following the repair, Humanetics' process chiller returned to full operation and once again delivered reliable cooling for the manufacturing process.
The successful condenser coil replacement restored system capacity, improved equipment reliability, and reduced the risk of unexpected production downtime.
Because the problem was accurately diagnosed the first time, the customer avoided unnecessary part replacements and was able to return to normal operations as quickly as possible.
Why Humanetics Chose B.I.M.S.
Industrial process cooling systems require technicians who understand far more than basic air conditioning. Process chillers, refrigeration circuits, compressors, condenser coils, expansion valves, pumps, controls, and manufacturing equipment must all operate together to maintain precise temperatures.
B.I.M.S. specializes in diagnosing difficult commercial and industrial HVAC problems that many contractors are unable to solve. Our technicians focus on identifying the root cause of equipment failures rather than replacing parts unnecessarily, helping customers reduce downtime, lower repair costs, and maximize equipment life.

Why Preventive Maintenance Matters
Many process chiller failures begin as small issues such as refrigerant leaks, dirty condenser coils, worn electrical components, restricted airflow, or improper refrigerant charge. Routine preventive maintenance helps identify these problems before they become costly emergency repairs or unplanned production shutdowns.
B.I.M.S. offers customized preventive maintenance programs designed to improve equipment reliability, increase energy efficiency, extend equipment life, and reduce total operating costs for commercial and industrial facilities.
